Our History
For over 90 years, Pittman Transport has been synonymous with reliability, innovation, and excellence in the Australian transport industry. Founded in the early 1930s by Frank Pittman, the company began with a single truck and a determination to meet the growing needs of a developing nation.
Despite the challenges of the Great Depression, Frank established a reputation for dependability and forward thinking. Following his passing in 1939, his sons, Don and Harold, continued to strengthen and expand the business. Under Harold’s leadership as Managing Director from 1962 to 1985, the company entered a period of significant growth, diversifying its operations and contributing to major infrastructure projects across Australia.
In 1985, Peter Pittman, representing the third generation of leadership, assumed the role of Managing Director. Peter has overseen the company’s continued expansion while maintaining the core values of integrity, innovation, and service excellence that have defined Pittman Transport since its foundation.
Today, the business remains proudly family owned and operated, with the fourth generation actively engaged in management. Jeremy Pittman serves as General Manager and Paula Evans as Operations Manager, ensuring the company continues to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing industry.
From humble beginnings to becoming one of the nation’s longest-standing family transport businesses, Pittman Transport remains committed to delivering trusted, high-quality transport solutions for Australia’s future.
